Short answer
A useful coaster specification starts with the actual cup base and tabletop. Confirm the outline, thickness, edge condition, appearance and any backing requirement together. Sample approval should cover both the visible surface and the underside that contacts the table.
Shape and appearance
Four starting points for your design
Explore a rounded square with a brushed silver appearance, a gold-tone hexagon, a satin silver oval and a matte black circle. These illustrations help communicate the desired look; final dimensions, material and finish method are agreed for the project.
Keep the entire cup base within the usable coaster surface.
Specify the desired color, gloss and visible grain direction.
Applications
One product family, several everyday settings
Beer, wine, whiskey and cocktail glasses can share a coaster design when their bases fit. Coffee mugs, tea cups and everyday drinkware also need the right contact area and a suitable tabletop interface.
Bars and cafés: consider wet use, repeated wiping and logo visibility.
Home and office: consider the desk finish, hot cups, storage and handling.
Stainless steel and aluminum are material options to discuss. A gold appearance alone does not specify plating or PVD, and matte black does not specify powder coating. If a soft underside is needed, include its material, attachment and cleaning requirements in the quote.
Share logo artwork, position and desired contrast before choosing a marking method.
Ask for the finished sample and agreed care instructions, including any backing or adhesive.
Place an agreed sample flat on a level surface, check for rocking and inspect edges before use. Try the intended cup, cleaner and tabletop under the expected conditions; agree the acceptance criteria before a production order.
Confirm dimensions, flatness, edges and the approved appearance.
Inspect both sides after wet use, wiping and stacking trials.
State quantities, packaging needs and any details that remain undecided.
Buyer questions
Common buyer questions
Have a question about your part? Leave a message and a reply email.
01Can I start without a finished drawing?
Yes. Send a sketch, photo or reference sample, describe the intended use and expected quantity, and mark undecided details. The quote can then be based on an agreed specification.
02Can you make custom logo metal coasters?
Share the artwork, location, size and desired appearance. The marking method and its compatibility with the chosen finish are confirmed during project review.
03Do metal coasters absorb water or insulate a hot cup?
A solid metal surface does not absorb condensation, and metal conducts heat. Water handling and tabletop protection depend on the whole design, any backing and the conditions of use.
04Are the four images stocked products?
They are design illustrations. Material grade, dimensions, surface process, backing, packaging, quantities and delivery terms are confirmed for each order.
